| Press Release - Thursday 21st
November 2002
Due to the encouragement we have received from our Northeast Fishing Petition, we have now stepped up the campaign to go throughout Scotland and Shetland Isles. The severe knock-on effect associated with the fishing crisis will have severe consequences to all Scottish Fishing Communities. Yesterday we received a response to the letter we gave to Tony Blair last week. |
| We now feel that the contents expressed
throughout this letter is not good enough - if we wanted the views of
the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs dept, then we would have
addressed the situation with them.
We wonder if we would have received a better response from Mr. Blair if we had asked him for bombs but we are asking him to intervene and help save our Scottish Fishing Communities as we are under threat by "The E.U. Vandals - Mr. Fischler and his Army"! Mr. Blair is now prepared to put 25000 British troops to fight the war in Iraq yet he is prepared to sit and let 60000 families suffer the degradation of unemployment. This is why we are now targeting our campaign higher and issuing the petition nationwide throughout Scotland and address the Scottish Parliament on December 5th. We will be asking them to kick Westminster into touch with the seriousness of this situation we all face due to Mr. Fischler's proposed measures. Mr. Blair has chosen to ignore our please for help, so we intend to fight with support form our Scottish communities in order to prevent The E.U. Vandals from devastating our futures which are highly dependent on fishing as a means of survival. We intend to lobby the Scottish Parliament on Thursday 5th December armed with a yet bigger petition than the 9000 signatures previously collected. We hope to achieve in the region of 30000 and hope to have as many buses filled with people who want to voice their fight to save our Scottish Fishing communities. |
